A MAN man has been charged over an alleged rampage thought the Perth suburb of Karrinyup, including terrifying home invasions, striking a woman to the head with a brick while she was sleeping in bed, attacking another woman with a pitchfork and dousing a further victim in petrol.
Perth Now reports, police allege the early morning chaos on Friday lasted about 45 minutes, starting with the man breaking into a unit on Davenport Street and assaulting a 53-year-old woman who was asleep in bed by hitting her to the head with a brick about 5.30am.
The man then allegedly broke into another unit on the same street and punched a female occupant to the face and shoulder before attacking the 59-year-old woman with a pitchfork. The alleged victim received injuries to her neck and ear.
Itâ€™s understood the accused man was naked for at least most of the rampage.
A police spokesman said the two women attacked were still in hospital.
WA Police also allege the man committed a number of offences that included: allegedly breaking into another unit and threatening a 73-year-old man, who managed to escape and flee to a nearby shopping centre for help and allegedly smashing in the back door of a fourth unit and rummaging through the property before leaving.
The man is also accused of entering a day care centre on Davenport Street and making threats while armed with a timber handle.
Police say the man smashed a window before a physical struggle with a 68-year-old male contractor. The accused man allegedly doused the victim in petrol from a jerry can. He then put the can down and walked towards the shopping centre.
Police also alleged the suspect threatened a 40-year-old man he approached outside the shopping centre on Davenport Street before smashing the back window of the manâ€™s Honda Civic with a rock. He then walked away.
He is also accused of driving a white Toyota Avalon and reversing it into a brick pillar of a house on Taunton Way causing structural damage.
The accused man allegedly drove away from that incident before police stopped and arrested him within a short distance around 6.15am.
The 55-year-old Karrinyup man has been charged with 18 offences including aggravated burglary and burglary, with intent to do grievous bodily harm unlawfully wounds another, threats to injure, endanger or harm any person, threaten to kill, trespass, criminal damage, being armed in a way that may cause fear, reckless driving, common assault and unlawful damage.
He is receiving treatment at Royal Perth Hospital for injuries received during the alleged crime spree and will face a bedside hearing today.
