Heavy rain could bring flooding
A LOW pressure trough is forming along the central and northern NSW coast.
The trough will deepen during Monday and a low is expected to develop within the trough along the northern half of the coast this Tuesday/Wednesday.
At this stage, there is a greater than 70 per cent chance of moderate to major flooding developing in the following river valleys from early Monday onwards:
1. Tweed valley - including local flash flooding in areas such as Chillingham
2. Brunswick valley
3. Richmond Wilsons valleys
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
• Monitor the weather situation over the next few days by checking weather reports or monitoring the Bureau of meteorology website
• Check the SES website at www.ses.nsw.gov.au for information on preparing for floods.
• Plan your long weekend travel with the heavy rain forecast in mind.
