VIDEO: car a breakthrough in burned body murder case

Tweed-Byron police crime manager Brendon Cullen says the discovery of Sabrina Bremer's car in Queensland yesterday afternoon is a significant breakthrough in the investigation of her death.

Ms Bremer's smouldering corpse was found by a resident, propped up against a tree, last Thursday at 7.30am on Pollards Rd, Dulguigan. The resident initially mistook the crime scene for a fire.

Detectives have been working on piecing together Ms Bremer's last moments alive since the grisly discovery, with the Logan mother-of-two last seen on Monday by Logan Police.

Ms Bremer's car was discovered at Woodridge, near Logan, yesterday afternoon, with a home security camera capturing the white Camry pulling up to Dawson St the day after her body was found.

Also on the grainy footage, a man can be seen leaving the driver's seat of the vehicle and taking one final look inside the vehicle through the windscreen before walking off.

"This is a significant find," Chief Inspector Cullen said.

"The motor vehicle opens up a number of new avenues to investigate, and certainly so does the footage of the the male leaving the car.

"These are all lines of enquiry that we're working on in this investigation."

UPDATE, 10.45am:

POLICE have located the car driven by slain woman Sabrina Bremer near Logan at Woodridge, Qld.

Specialist forensic officers examined the vehicle Ms Bremer was believed to be travelling in at the time she was last seen.

Investigations into Ms Bremer's suspected murder are continuing.

INITIAL REPORT, Tuesday 10am:

FINDING the car of slain woman Sabrina Bremer is top of the agenda for murder investigators today.

Tweed-Byron police have called for information to help lead them to the Toyota Camry driven by the 34-year-old, whose burned corpse was discovered at Dulguigan by a local resident last Thursday.

Superintendent Wayne Starling said the deceased mother-of-two was last seen driving the 2002 sedan with Qld plates 282VGN at Logan police station last Monday afternoon.

"(Finding the car) is one of the avenues of enquiry in this investigation," Supt Starling said.

"We are talking about a murder, we're talking about the loss of a mother - she had two children left behind - and NSW and Qld police are doing everything in their power to finalise this investigation for the family."

In relation to suspects, Supt Starling said the strike force was looking at "numerous persons over the border" in Qld.

Supt Starling said police had received a number of Crime Stoppers reports on Ms Bremer's last movements between last Monday afternoon and Thursday morning when her body was found burned.

The public appeal for information about Ms Bremer's car comes as Strike Force Faringdon releases CCTV images of the woman's last movements at the Logan Police Station on Monday, August 15, when she was fulfilling bail obligations for minor drug charges.

The results of a post mortem on Ms Bremer's body performed yesterday have not yet been released.
